Ascension day 2011

Ascension day 2011, celebrated on 2 June, was a beautiful day! In a beautiful service, attended by members of St. Mary's, the Arnhem-Nijmegen Chaplaincy and some guests, we celebrated the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Afterwards we had the (traditional) Acsension day bring-and-share picnic. The weather was superb! We enjoyed various salads, cupcakes, bread, quiche, pies, trifle, coffee, wine, orange juice and much more!

The pie-contest was revived (last edition in 2004). About 16 (anonymous) persons baked a pie for this contest. The jury, with our chaplain as the chairman, judged the pies with great responsibility. Five prizes were to be won!

Later on a real paper airplane contest took place. Coördinator Gerben judged the distance of all the paper planes... Only one could win! The prize was a piece of the winning pie of the pie-contest!
